NBA All-Stars: Shaq Is In, Wellesley’s Ray Allen Is Out

Apparently Arizona is the place to be these days…

There’s the weather

There are the Cardinals appearing in this weekend’s Super Bowl…

And there’s the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 15th in Phoenix !!

The West’s team is formidable with experience: Shaquille O’Neal is back for his 15th time along with  fellow Phoenix Suns teammate Amare Stoudemire, and other All-Star alums including the Laker’s Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan of the Spurs, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Houston’s Yao Min, Chauncey Phillips of the Nuggets, and Chris Paul of the Hornets.

Youthful exuberance may be the signature of the East team though Celtic’s forward Paul Pierce was named for the 7th time in his career, getting the nod as a reserve.  Kevin Garnett, voted in by the fans, will be the starting forward.

But according to the Boston Herald, the Celtic’s Ray Allen was not on the guest list for this year’s All-Star party,  despite averaging 18.0 points on .503 shooting and helping Boston to a 38-9 record.

Allen is an 8- time NBA all-star guard.
