Newton-Wellesley Hospital To Add Location in Framingham

For over 100 years Newton-Wellesley Hospital has served the residents of metrowest Boston.

Located at the junction of Routes 128 and 16, the hospital has seen its demand for services increase dramatically over the last decade.

The closing of Waltham Hospital and the recent change in policy regarding ambulance diversions are but some of the reasons that hospital demand continues to grow.

Ambulatory surgery and hospital surgical admissions have increased 10% in the last 2 years alone.

Newton-Wellesley’s reputation for excellence and innovative health care services have continued to attract the medical field’s best and brightest to this community teaching hospital.

The hospital is a member of Partners Health Care.  NWH has made continuous strides in health screening, diagnosis, and medical treatment as a result of updates in technology, and is committed to providing superb patient care.

Newton-Wellesley has announced proposed plans to expand to a location in Framingham at 500 Cochituate Road.

The proposal is currently before the Framingham Planning Board.

The proposed location would increase accessibility to medical care as well as add jobs.

The new location would consist of 4 operating rooms and 4 procedure rooms in a 24,000 ft. facility, offering state-of-the-art technology.

A recent article in the Boston Globe, investigating the reimbursement disparities amongst health care providers, focused on the varying payments private insurers make to competing hospitals for the same procedure.

A number of hospital officials have requested that Governor Deval Patrick investigate how some hospitals in the state,” receive higher payments from insurers, even though there are no obvious differences in the quality of care that those hospitals provide — especially for the most common procedures.”

The Boston Globe article indicated that Partners appeared to be the largest beneficiary of the reputed discrepancy in reimbursement.
