Vigil for Fatally Injured Holliston HS Football Player Joey Larracey

The Holliston High School Football and Cheerleading Teams will be hosting a vigil this evening on the high school playing field to honor their teammate, Joey Larracey 16, who was fatally injured in a full scrimmage game Friday night in Lakeville.

Following a blow to the chest, Joey Larracey, straight A student, good son and good friend, succumbed to his injuries at a Taunton hospital.

The 5’9″, 185 lb junior had recently undergone a physical and had been described as being in perfect health.

Hoping to become a professional football player, Larracey worked hard both on and off the field.

“He was a one in a million kid,” commented his uncle Tom Larracey in a report published in the Milford Daily News.

Panthers Coach Tom Kiley had this to say, ” He possessed every quality for a teammate, athlete and friend.  He is going to be missed.”

Grief counselors will again be available at Holliston High School today between 2 pm and 4 pm.  Details are available on the high school website.

Tonight’s vigil is scheduled from 7 pm to 9 pm.  All are welcomed to attend as Holliston students remember No. 73… Joey Larracey.

Joey Larracey appears in today’s High School Sports section of the Metrowest News Publications.  He had been tagged as an athlete “to watch,” for his prowess, in an article highlighting this season’s high school athletes.
