FAST LANE commuters will be hit with a new fee of .50 per month.
Instead of paying an upfront fee of $25.95 when you purchase a transponder, FAST LANE commuters will be charged a monthly .50 fee totaling $6.00 per year, along with paying tolls.
According to a report on the BostonChannel.com, “Everyone using the transponders will be levied a $6 annual service charge – per device – beginning in June. The charge will apply even to those who previously bought their transponders.” *
The transponders will be given out starting Feb. 15, and the new fee will be implemented June 1. Drivers who buy a new transponder between Jan. 15 to Feb. 15 will get a credit toward the cost of tolls. Those who purchased a transponder before Jan. 15 are ineligible for the credit but can get a new transponder when the battery wears down. – WickedLocal.com
