The Swellesley Report notes that Babson College’s new president, Len Schlesinger has nothing but praise for Tina Fey‘s recent remark at the Golden Globes ceremony which inadvertently catapulted the Wellesley bastion of entrepreneurship into the national spotlight.
Such luminaries as Soichiro Honda, Diane Von Furstenberg, Malcolm Forbes, Bob Kraft, Michael Bloomberg, Richard Branson, Rupert Murdock, Frank Perdue, Ray Kroc, and Berry Gordy have been honored by Babson College in the past, when inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs.
And she would be keeping good company with former Babson commencement speakers including Ted Turner, Gary Hirshberg of Stonyfield Farm, Paul Orfalea the founder of Kinko’s, and Guy Kawasaki, CEO and co-founder of Garage.com.
Schlesinger’s invitation to Fey to be the 2009 commencement speaker at Babson , would certainly confer a prestigious acknowledgement of entrepreneur status to Tina Fey’s many entrepreneurial endeavors in the world of entertainment.
Can a request for a donation to Babson be far behind ???
You betcha !!!

Babson’s invitation to Tina Fey is as a commencement speaker, not as a member of its prestigious Academy for Distinguished Entrepreneurs. The Academy, now in its 30th year, is as the writer indicates, for entrepreneurial luminaries.
The point being made is the stage at Babson has been graced by many luminaries in one capacity or another, and the addition of Tina Fey as a commencement speaker would put her in a rarefied atmosphere. Malcolm Forbes by the way was also a commencement speaker, in addition to his status in the Academy for Distinguished Entrepreneurs. Tina may not yet be ready for that particular honor, especially since the fashion police have called her out on her dress that night as being akin to looking like she was wearing heavy artillery!
