Walpole 21, Natick 9
Natick’s football stadium is old.
Its field is not the type best suited for Walpole High School’s Ryan Izzo.

But on Friday night, Nov. 14th, it provided the perfect playing field for the hard charging Walpole Rebels who outmaneuvered and outplayed the Natick Red & Blue in the drizzle.
The Natick field morphed into junior Ryan Izzo’s personal field of dreams…a fait accompli!
The scene was surreal. An abundance of red defining the Natick fans while a veritable white out marked the Walpole supporters who appeared in puffy clouds of baby powder. An ethereal aura surrounding a strong offensive Walpole team.
And out of the clouds came the avenging angel himself…running back Ryan Izzo and his posse of offensive linemen.
The undefeated Natick team went up against an incredibly strong Walpole team.
It was standing room only for a game that had its sloppy moments in the first half, but in the second Walpole solidly sealed the deal!
Izzo’s 3 touchdowns, kickoffs, defensive play, and rushes undeniably made the difference in this hotly contested showdown with Natick.
An injured Scott McCummings made the sole TD for Natick.
Walpole’s Coach Villa remarked on the Rebels composure, “Teams are going to make plays. It’s all about how you respond…”
The Rebels were relentless in just grinding down the Red & Blue. A classic last drive combined with vision and passion propelled Walpole into back to back playoffs.
. . . Izzo & company are just too hot to lose! . . .
Props to the Boston.com High School Sports Blog gang who broadcast live from the game. Chris Forsberg will be posting video of the game on Boston.com
