While the federal government is handing out taxpayer monies to AIG executives who use the bailout dollars for spa junkets to the Monarch St. Regis, the town of Natick, MA is setting an example on how to provide tax relief while at the same time utilizing the abilities of its senior citizens…
During hard economic times, innovative business strategies oftentimes come to the fore.
In Natick, an innovative and timely program allows senior citizens to work for the town for 94 hours, for which they’ll receive a $750 property tax credit.
This quid pro quo arrangement offers the best of both worlds: the town gets necessary work done, and the seniors get an opportunity to reduce their tax burden. And as is often the case, unintended benefits also ensue.
