As the country churns towards the November presidential elections, the distinctions between parties sometimes blurs. The red states; the blue states…very soon we will see the supposed delineation between states all over the media.
But in Natick, red and blue will make its first appearance on September 12th on the football field at Natick High School. Apparently the NHS football team will represent the true spirit of bipartisanship when they take to the field as the “Red and Blue.”
High School officials have decided that the “Red and Blue“ is the new nickname for Natick’s sports teams.
The team’s colors have now become the team’s name due to town offficials deciding to retire the “Redmen” team name. A decision made despite the overwhelmingly positive vote of townspeople to keep the name.
The Redmen had a long and illustrious history in Natick. For instance, the infamous “Hail Mary Pass” was executed by Redmen alumnus Doug Flutie during Boston College’s signature football game against the championship University of Miami team. A team thought to be unbeatable by sports experts nationwide.
The start of the new football season is sure to bring surprise. It certainly is bringing change.
The Red and Blue….???
What do you think?
Does the new nickname “do it” for you?
Does a dynasty define itself by its colors?
How will headlines look? “The Red and Blue” of Natick Take to the Field!”
Will the public think a political meeting is taking place at the stadium??
Will media report that the “Red and Blue“ was black and blue after today’s game??
The branding of a legacy is serious business.
Your thoughts??
